Planetary hours are an ancient astrological system that divides the time between sunrise and sunset into 12 day hours and the time between sunset and the next sunrise into 12 night hours. Each hour is ruled by one of the seven classical planets — Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, the Sun, Venus, Mercury, and the Moon — following the Chaldean order. Because they depend on local sunrise and sunset, planetary hours vary by location and season.
